Meet MWG's The Scribbler Editor Jerusha Bosarge

I am a native Mississippian and freelance author/journalist. I
recently returned home from a three year stint in Jacksonville,
FL with my husband, Joey, and my three beautiful little girls:
Jordan, Abigail, and Emelia. Baby number four (a boy!) is
expected to be earthbound in June!
Since discovering my passion for writing, I have been lucky to
publish feature articles for The Mississippi Press, the
Northside Sun, the Jackson Free Press, humorpress.com, and
the Magnolia Quarterly. In 2005, I was also fortunate to
discover a brave local publisher (Quail Ridge Press)who was
willing to take a chance on a first time author, resulting in the
publication of my first full-length book, “Inventing Ott: The
Legacy of Arthur C. Guyton.” It is a biography for middle-
grade readers, although many 9 and 10 year olds have
reportedly enjoyed it as well.
I earned a B.S. degree in Biology from Millsaps College
(Jackson, MS), which is where I learned to love science! In my
free time, I enjoy reading, playing with my kids, and learning
random new things. I love Harry Potter, wild spurts of
imagination, and lots and lots of color around me at all times. I
don’t like cleaning my house, people who won’t think for
themselves, or “Head-On…Apply Directly To The Forehead!”
commercials. Sometimes I spend entire days trying to speak in
nothing but rhyme, just for fun. At times, I can be quite loud.
My greatest desires (this week) are to get some of my picture
books published, to travel the world, to own my own boat, to
found a children’s advocacy group in Mississippi, and to start
my own publishing company.

SHORT ESSAYS ON WRITING
Mississippi Writers Guild seeks articles for its website and quarterly newsletter on every aspect of
writing: fiction, nonfiction, screenwriting, playwriting, poetry, songwriting, and commercial writing, agents,
marketing, etc.
We need beginner, intermediate, and advanced articles that teach how to write with good detailed writing
examples and prompts. Articles should be between 800-1200 words. Personal experience essays on
writing are not needed.
Payment: $20 for first print/electronic rights; $7 for reprints. Payment on publication.
Rights: For original articles: First electronic/print rights and nonexclusive right to archive article on the
Mississippi Writers Guild website for one year. By written request, authors may withdraw their articles from
the archives. For reprints: Nonexclusive electronic rights and the right to archive articles online for one
year.
Response Times: We try to respond to submissions within one month.
Submissions: Email article and a short bio in the body of an email to: richput@mywebemail.net. Please
designate in the subject line what category of writing your article pertains to.
